HENRY BIELE Henry was the first son of Adolphus (see Adolphus Biele page for more information). Henry was born in 1846 in Missouri (likely in Franklin County) and died in 1941 in Chanute, Kansas. Henry is listed as a veteran of the Civil War, so he would have joined as a young man. There is a Missouri marriage record of Henry Biele and Emilie Selman on July 17, 1869 in Franklin County, Missouri. In the 1870 census, Henry and his wife, Emilie Selman (listed as Amelie), are living together with August and their mother Louise. They are all listed together twice, once at a farm in Union Township of Franklin County, Missouri and another in Beouf Township of Franklin County. A descendant of August Biele told me that Henry sold his farm to August in 1872 and then moved to Kansas. There is a Missouri marriage record of Henry Biele and Lena Bucher on August 27, 1876 in McDonald County. McDonald is in western Missouri near the border of Kansas and Oklahoma. In the 1880 census, Henry is with his second wife, Lena, in Neosho county Kansas with a two-year-old daughter Mary and an adopted son, Cloney Crawford. In the 1900 census, the family had grow to include seven children:
The 1920 census lists Henry, 73, Lena, 62, Tony, 22, their single son, and Freda Reice, 31, their married daughter. The 1930 census lists Henry, 78 (the age seems to be wrong), Lena, 72, Fred, 40, their divorced son, and a grandson Dale, 15. The 1930 has a separate listing for Henry's son Tony, 32, his wife Mabel, 32, and their daughter Ruby, 12. The final record of Henry is a cemetery listing from Chanute Kansas. He and several family members are listed:
